The rolling hills, large old trees and rocky outcroppings at The Territory offer an elegant canvas for a course that will be both memorable and challenging. And no one knows the natural features of this land better than course architect, Randy Heckenkemper, who has already created two of the top rated courses in the State of Oklahoma.

During each phase of the construction, every effort was made to create a course that integrates naturally into the existing environment. With six hundred and forty acres of rolling terrain, large oak and pecan trees, beautifully maintained native grasses, and impressive rock outcroppings plus, a beautifully staged creek and irrigation lake that doubles as a fish habitat, this will clearly be a course in which nature rules and man is a guest.

By taking advantage of the natural settings of the land, Heckenkemper's strategy, sometimes called "modified target golf," minimizes disturbance to the natural vegetation while still offering enjoyable playing widths of maintained turf. This architectural style utilizes classic sand bunkers and traditional playing strategies, with an offering of both natural and manmade hazards. A style that presents players with numerous risk-versus-reward opportunities, and requires thoughtful ball positioning for each shot.

In the end, our goals are simple. Create a classic course that will be considered one of the top courses in Oklahoma. A course that is truly 'multi-generational' in play, with routings that are fun and challenging for the entire family and that will rouse a golfer's interest round after round, year after year, while elegantly standing the tests of time.

"One of the strongest attributes of the Territory is its ability to be played in all wind conditions.
The balance in design provides a fair challenge regardless of the wind direction." - Notah Begay III
